Rip Rap Erosion Control Installation
Posted on Oct 21, 2010 by Steve |
When looking to have Rip Rap installed on your lake front property, be sure that you have an experienced contractor doing the work. There are several steps in installing Rip Rap to insure that the job is done correctly and that erosion of the shoreline does not continue. Another item to consider when having Rip Rap installed is the type of weather that hits your shoreline. This needs to be considered so that the proper size of stone is installed on your property. Be sure that when you are having Rip Rap installed that the contractor explains to you exactly how the job will be completed down to the little things like where the tree debris will be hauled off to and disposed of. When removing trees from the shoreline to install Rip Rap these should be properly disposed of and not stuck in the wall behind the Rip Rap or dumped out in the lake near where your dock will be placed only for someone to get hurt on later. Thank you for cleaning up your work area on Old Dawsonville Rd. across Lathem Creek from my subdivision, Martin's Cove. As a homeowner who purchased here for the view, your removal of the old rusty dumpsters, huge concrete blocks and big trash pile of branches has vastly improved our view. While the roar of rip-rap left by dump trucks breaks our tranquility, we realize that this is a long-standing access area for you to load your barges. We only hope that when you're not working, what's left behind has minimal impact on our environment. It is so much better than a year ago. We complained, and you complied wonderfully! Today I'm watching a 1-man loader grading the area around your 1 red dumpster as your barge does it's thing. Now we can sit on our decks and gaze over a much nicer view. Good on ya'! Thanks! Ken
